Susiya, South Hebron Hills: Settlers graze sheep and cattle on community resident’s land

On Saturday, 27 July 2024, three settlers, some of them teens, came with a herd of cattle to Khirbet Susiya, in the South Hebron Hills. Two of them entered the vineyard of Nasser Nawaj’ah (47), located about 50 meters from his house, picked grapes and provoked him. The settlers then moved to a nearby plot of land owned by Nawaj’ah and grazed their cattle there. A few minutes later, four more settlers arrived at the scene with a flock of sheep, and another settler arrived in a car. The settlers grazed their sheep on Nawaj’ah’s land. B’Tselem field researcher Nasser Nawaj’ah, arrived at the scene and asked them to leave, but they refused. The residents called the police, but no officers arrived for about half an hour, and when they did, they pulled over about 500 meters from the area and did nothing, claiming they were waiting for a military force. After about half an hour, the residents called the police again, who suggested that they file a complaint at the Kiryat Arba station, but they saw no point in doing so.

After about two hours, a soldier joined the settlers and a short time later, the settlers and the soldier left.
