On 5 February 2021, dozens of settlers invaded the Khan a-Lubban area south of the town an attempt in to take over a local spring.
Residents went out to defend the town’s land, and soldiers who came to the scene to protect the settlers fired tear gas canisters at the residents. About two hours later, Palestinian DCO officials and Red Cross representatives intervened, and everyone left the area.
This grave incident has a precedent: settlers long ago took over another spring on the town’s land.
The settlement of Eli was established about a kilometer east of the town, and the settlement of Ma’ale Levona was established about a kilometer to the south.
